I don’t know if Sarah Palin can win this defamation suit she’s filed against the NYT, but I’m glad she’s holding their feet to the fire. They just plain lied about her, because they figured they could get away with it. Bad idea.

Kaja Whitehouse, NY Post:

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin plans to subpoena close to two dozen New York Times reporters, editors and other workers as part of her defamation lawsuit against the newspaper, it was revealed in court documents Wednesday…

The subpoenas are part of Palin’s effort to obtain “documents that might reveal, among other things, their ‘negative feelings’ toward her,” the Times told the judge…

Palin is suing the Gray Lady over a June editorial linking one of her political action committee ads to a 2011 mass shooting that severely wounded Arizona Democrat Gabby Giffords and killed six people, including a 9-year-old girl.

Everybody’s saying she won’t be able to prove malice. Maybe not. I just don’t believe that nobody in the NYT building knew better. They knew, they just didn’t care. But if they’d prefer to be seen as ignorant and incompetent rather than outright malicious, I guess I can buy that too.

I don’t know if Palin would’ve been a good VP, but she doesn’t deserve the torrent of crap that’s been flung at her for the past decade. I’m glad she’s standing up to these bullies. I’m glad she’s reminding them of their responsibility to tell the truth, even when it concerns the people they hate.
