As if devoting a portion of “The Late Show” every night to bashing Donald Trump wasn’t enough, Stephen Colbert is now executive producing a cartoon series for Showtime based on the Trump White House.
Since Donald Trump became president–and before then, during the presidential election–he has been a frequent topic on “The Late Show,” where the animated portrayal of the commander-in-chief began. Showtime has decided to make it into its own show and they’re bringing on Colbert and “The Late Show” executive producer Chris Licht to make it happen.

“It’s a workplace comedy where the office happens to be oval; it’s a character study in search of character, as seen through the eyes of an imaginary documentary crew,” Showtime said in a statement announcing the upcoming series. The series will focus on “tru-ish adventures of Trump’s confidants and bon vivats–family, top associates, heads of government, golf pros and anyone else straying into his orbit–intrepidly exploring their histories and their psyches, revealing insights into what makes them so definitively Trumpian.”
The 10-episode animated series that is yet to be named will premiere sometime this fall. According to reports, production turnaround time will be speedy, allowing the creators to play off current events in the show.
