As the White House Turns continues with news about “Pickle,” the 9-year-old boy who wrote a letter to President Trump telling him how much he likes him and how he wants him to be his friend.
Turns out “Pickle” is ratings gold.
While reading his letter aloud was a stark departure from what typically happens at a White House press briefing, there appears to be no real norms with this presidency. In this case, it turned out to be a good call.
“Pickle” grew emotional when White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders read his letter at the once again televised briefing this week before she gave reporters a spanking. She also informed “Pickle” that Trump had agreed to be his friend. “The president would be happy to be Pickle’s friend,” she said.
According to WaPo’s Monica Hesse, “Pickle” had been steeling himself to write the letter for a month before he acquired a head of steam to do it.
“Watching the spokeswoman say that Trump wanted to be his friend makes Pickle laugh every time, and cry a little the first time, because it was so emotional,” the story reports.
