Chris Evans called Donald Trump a “reckless moron” over Twitter on Tuesday for a joke the president made during his speech before Long Island law enforcement officers on Friday.

The “Captain America” actor’s reaction came after White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders addressed Trump’s remarks during a press briefing on Tuesday afternoon, clarifying that Trump was “making a joke.”

“You reckless moron. Do you have any idea what you’re encouraging? You think a ‘joke’ makes it ok?? ZERO societal awareness and understanding,” Evans tweeted with a clip of Trump’s remarks from Friday.

Trump has been a strong supporter of all law enforcement in America and has also made it clear that the safety of American people is one of his top priorities in office.

“When you see these towns and when you see these thugs being thrown into the back of a paddy wagon. You just see them thrown in–rough. I said please don’t be too nice,” Trump said on Friday, drawing laughter from the crowd.

“Like when you guys put somebody in the car and you’re protection their head, you know, they way you put their hand over. Like don’t hit their head, and they’ve just killed somebody, don’t hit their head. I said, ‘you can take the hand away okay,'” Trump said to applause.

Whether you see his comment as a joke or not, the president is clearly in favor of keeping the streets safe with the help of our men and women in blue.
