The Trump administration is not considering Secretary of Energy Rick Perry to replace former Secretary John Kelly as the head of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

An administration official told E&E News Perry was not under consideration for the DHS role, and the Energy Department tweeted out a statement to put any further speculation to rest.

The rebuttal comes hours after three sources told Bloomberg, “White House officials are considering others for the position in addition to Perry” to replace Kelly, who was sworn in as White House chief of staff on Monday.
