A female teacher turned herself into police on Wednesday after discovering there was a warrant out for her arrest on sexual assault charges.

The 31-year-old married special education teacher, Laura Ramos, was already awaiting trial for earlier sexual assault charges when she turned herself over to Bridgeport police. The new charges alleged that she had sex with a student in a Shelton restaurant, the CTPost reported. Police said she had sex with at least four students and maybe more.

Ramos was subsequently charged with two counts of second-degree sexual assault and released on a $50,000 bond. “My client voluntarily surrendered to police and we are awaiting the paperwork indicating the basis for the new charges,” Ramos’s lawyer, Edward Gavin said. “Laura Ramos continues to maintain her innocence and we look forward to the progression of the case,” her lawyer added, maintaining that she had confessed to no crime.

The Connecticut police force noted they had a video record of Ramos acknowledging having sex with a different 18-year-old student in her car countless times from Dec. 2016 through April 2017. Police also reported that one of her special education students told police in June that he and Ramos had sex. Another student maintained that he and Ramos had sex in the electrical room of a restaurant after Ramos told him her husband wasn’t giving her enough attention.

Central High School put Ramos on administrative leave after her initial arrest, after which she resigned.

The judge has extended her court hearing until Aug. 14 according to Fox News.
