August 4 marks an important date in American history because it’s the 12-year anniversary of the “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” premiere.

The show aired its first episode August 4, 2005, with the hilarious “The Gang Gets Racist” pilot episode.

What happened next was a cultural phenomenam nobody could have ever predicted. America embraced the quirky characters of Charlie, Dennis, Mac, Dee and Frank, who joined in the second season and is played by Danny Devito.

Each character is a goldmine of quotes, storylines and unforgettable humor.

The show has had an insane 12-year run through 12 seasons so far, and the it doesn’t appear to be slowing down at all. The cast of characters will have at least one more season on the air before the actors likely decide to split up and go their separate ways to pursue other acting opportunities.

It’s incredible how this show will be the defining achievement in Danny DeVito’s already incredible career, and it took Charlie Day from complete obscurity into stardom.

It’s been an incredible 12-years, and hopefully there will be much more in store of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” in our future.
