A California man filed a lawsuit against Heineken after consuming a can of beer that he claims had two geckos inside.

George Toubbeh consumed a beer in August 2015 that he described as having a foul taste, according to the Los Angeles Times. He then experienced abdominal pain and eventually went to the emergency room for nausea and vomiting.

Toubbeh’s daughter proceeded to examine the beverage and said she saw creatures in the can. Heineken has other thoughts on the situation.

The company released a statement saying it, “holds the safety and integrity of the products we import to the highest standards. We have investigated this isolated claim, and based on a number of factors, we confidently believe there is no merit to this claim.”

Even though Heineken doubts the credibility of the claim, Toubbeh’s lawyer is confident after his office did an independent investigation, according to ABC.

Beyond the gastrointestinal issues, Toubbeh reported emotional distress and anxiety following the incident, which led to him to take days off of work. The suit claims the man experienced PTSD after finding the geckos, according to Business Insider.

Reportedly, Toubbeh is asking for unspecified general damages, medical expenses, lost wages and the cost of the lawsuit.

The Kroger Co., is also included in this lawsuit because it owns the grocery store where Toubbeh bought the alcohol.
