Lane Kiffin explained Wednesday why he has decided to take on three “Last Chance U” players. Kiffin, head coach of Florida Atlantic University told CBS Sports, “We need to fix our roster.”

Last Chance U is a Netflix original series that takes place at East Mississippi Community College and gives players who have had problems at previous schools or lost scholarships the chance to prove themselves again. Many of the players on the show get picked up by a university, with the eventual hope of making it to the NFL.

Kiffin says the show is addicting, so he is a big fan. Kiffin has three players from EMCC that will be playing for him this fall. John Franklin III is a fifth-year senior who transferred from Auburn. De’Andre Johnson and Tim Bonner are the other two players getting picked up. All three come with baggage from their previous playing stints

Kiffin told CBS Sports, “We’ve always believed in second chances. I think most of us have had them in life, especially at a young age. These guys are held to a really high standard.”

Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports said Florida Atlantic should be called “Second Chance U.”
