One person is reported dead after a suspected stabbing attack Friday in Wuppertal, Germany.

Another person was injured in the attack Friday afternoon. Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung reports that the attacker or attackers managed to flee the scene. A large police operation is underway, according to the newspaper.

The attack comes just hours after eight people were stabbed in the Finish city of Turku. One person has been reported dead so far and a manhunt is underway for a number of attackers. One suspect was arrested after police shot him in the leg. Police urged people in the area to stay away from the center of the city.

“We can’t exclude that it has connections to an international terror network, but we can’t confirm it either,” Turku police chief Seppo Kolehmainen said of a possible motive, according to YLE.
