The anticipation of the solar eclipse will cost companies $694 million in lost revenue over the number of people watching the two and half minute spectacle Monday.

While the full event should take only 20 minutes for workers to briefly glance at the solar eclipse, companies will lose a great deal in productivity, according to estimation by outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas, the New York Post reported Friday. Some workers might take the day off or extra time to set up their telescope. While the damage seems astronomical, the firm says it should affect business too much.

While the damage seems astronomical, the firm says it shouldn’t affect business too much.

“Compared to the amount of wages being paid to an employee over a course of a year, it is very small,” said Challenger, Gray & Christmas, adding that,”It’s not going to show up in any type of macroeconomic data.”

The solar eclipse is expected to arrive around lunch time for most businesses so it will have less of a substantial impact on the rest of the work day, reported TheStreet Thursday.
