Host of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Joe Scarborough, believes America cannot win the war in Afghanistan but “can sure as hell lose it,” with the results being catastrophic.
“That is the reality that we’re facing, whether presidents want to admit it or not. We can’t win Afghanistan but we sure as hell can lose it. And the consequences of losing Afghanistan will haunt America for decades,” Scarborough said Tuesday.
Scarborough’s comments come on the heels of a speech given by President Donald Trump Monday, outlining his plan to continue the war in Afghanistan as opposed to a full-scale withdrawal.
Despite many believing Trump would stand by his campaign rhetoric, he said he is not going to institute artificial timelines and is heeding the advice of his generals to continue America’s presence in Afghanistan.
