Ohio Republican Gov. John Kasich strongly denied a rumor that he is considering running for president in 2020 with Democratic Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper.

“The answer is no, OK,” Kasich told Chuck Todd on NBC’s Meet The Press Sunday when asked whether rumors of a bipartisan presidential ticket were true.

“Look, ‘Kasich-Hickenlooper,’ first of all, you couldn’t pronounce it and second of all, you couldn’t fit it on a bumper sticker,” Kasich said.

Kasich and Hickenlooper have been pushing for a bipartisan fix to the nation’s healthcare system for months, leading to speculation earlier this week that the two governors might team up to seek the highest office. (RELATED: Kasich Considering Teaming Up With Democrat For 2020 Run)

“Because Hickenlooper and I work together, cynics out there say well, they want something,” Kasich said Sunday. “Because we want to stabilize healthcare and make sure that poor people have something, people assume there’s a motive.”

The two governors started working together on a healthcare plan that is expected to be released soon, have a plan for job growth, and are considering putting together a podcast or news show “to continue cementing their brand,” Axios reported Friday.

Hickenlooper also denied that the two had any ulterior motive. “Not a unity ticket, just working with a new friend on hard compromises,” Hickenlooper said in a tweet Friday.

“This growing cynicism eats at the fabric of the spirit of our country,” Kasich said.
