A career in diversity, inclusion, and social justice pays big in Seattle, Washington, according to a King County job listing posted Thursday.

King County, posted a job listing for a project manager in the Department of Transportation “with a passion for advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion” Thursday that pays between $80,412.80 – $101,920.

The full time job requires an individual to “provide creativity, insights and innovation as well as critical program and project management to help advance the implementation of the Equity and Social Justice Strategic Plan, Partnership to Achieve Comprehensive Equity (PACE) and diversity & inclusion in the Transit Division.”

The manager will work in partnership with leadership and employees within the Department to create and integrate Equal Employment Opportunity, “equity, diversity and inclusion goals and strategies into business processes and practices.”

What are minimum qualifications for a candidate for such a job?

Along with having knowledge of federal, state, and local laws pertaining to legislative decisions and administrative guidelines relating to Equal Employment Opportunity, an ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate the ability to work with different types of individuals from different backgrounds “with diverging opinions and viewpoints as well as understand the “concepts that drive ESJ [Equity and Social Justice], institutional bias, and cultural competence.”

King County previously released their six-year ESJ plan last year, where they propose to “dismantle deeply entrenched systems of privilege and oppression that have led to inequitable decision-making processes and the uneven distribution of benefits and burdens in our communities.”
