A number of high-profile Democrats are looking to challenge President Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election cycle.

The lineup includes former Vice Presidents Joe Biden and Al Gore, Sens. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, Bernie Sanders of Vermont, Cory Booker of New Jersey, Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, and Kamala Harris of California, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, Axios reports.

Three dozen names of presidential hopefuls are reportedly floating around Washington, some of which have close ties to the Obamas and Clintons. Those close to the Obamas reportedly prefer former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick, Rep. Seth Moulton of Massachusetts and former Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander. Those in the Clinton circle would like to see Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, former Agriculture Secretary and Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack, and former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro.

Arguably the most interesting potential candidates are those that are not politicians. Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, Mark Cuban, The Rock, Starbucks Executive Chairman Howard Schultz, Disney CEO Bob Iger, Oprah and George Clooney are also reportedly in the mix.

While it isn’t likely that all three dozen will run in 2020, the large number could pose some problems for Democrats in the primary runoff. Having so many candidates could cause Democrats to use more campaign funds than normal on the primary race and their campaign rhetoric, which would be used to appeal to the Democratic base, could work to isolate candidates in the general election.
