A college testing company cancelled a Saturday, September 9 entry exam for American colleges after security breaches in Asia.

American College Testing (ACT) cancelled tests in Hong Kong, Japan, Macao, Shanghai, Singapore, and Taiwan after test materials were “compromised,” reported The Washington Post.

“ACT has received credible evidence that test materials intended for administration at your test center have been compromised,” emailed the company to students. “Unfortunately, there is not enough time to assemble and deliver secure test materials to the impacted test centers in time for Saturday’s administration.”

ACT will not add another date to its testing calendar to compensate for the cancelled test, but students can sign up for another session. (RELATED: Yale Prof Makes Test Optional So Students Can Cope With Trump Win)

“This latest, confirmed case of widespread college admissions exam cheating further undermines the credibility of the testing industry,” said Bob Schaeffer, education director for FairTest, which advocates on issues of testing abuse, in an email obtained by WaPo. “It is not a surprise that a top box office draw in Asia is the new film ‘Bad Genius,’ which highlights ways to beat test security systems.”

Schaeffer opined that the testing industry is unable to maintain a fair testing system worldwide for students with the advent of new technologies.

“The incident is currently under investigation,” said Edward R. Colby, ACT’s senior director of media and public relations, to The Daily Caller News Foundation. “ACT is not providing further information or comment at this time.”
