PETA is asking vegans for a quite an unusual donation to help those with serious gastrointestinal issues.

PETA wants vegans to donate their feces due to an innovative new medical treatment called a fecal microbiota transplant, which can help people with colon disease. The treatment involves transporting feces filled with healthy bacteria into the colon of someone with bad bacteria, according to PETA. The animal rights group claimx that not eating meat or dairy products makes stool healthier.

This treatment can help patients with Clostridium difficile (C. difficile) infections and can possibly prevent life-threatening gastrointestinal illnesses. The procedure involves healthy bodily waste being placed in the colon of the patient through pill form or colonoscopy, added Newsweek.

“Vegan kitchens save 100 animals a year, and now vegan bathrooms can be used to save some of our fellow human beings,” Ingrid Newkirk, president of PETA, said in a Wednesday press statement. “PETA is betting the farm that after meat-eaters experience the health and mood benefits of vegan stool, they’ll go vegan themselves.”
