Donald Trump Jr. released a statement Thursday after five hours of questioning from the Senate Judiciary Committee, the topic of the inquiry being his meeting with a Russian lawyer during the 2016 presidential campaign.

“I answered every question posed by the committee related to this topic, as well as of their questions on other topics, until both sides had exhausted their lines of questioning. I trust this interview fully satisfied their inquiry,” Trump Jr. said in his statement.

Trump Jr. told the Senate Judiciary Committee that he accepted a meeting last year with a Russian lawyer who was offering derogatory information about then-presidential candidate Hillary Clinton because he wanted to gauge her “fitness” for office.

The meeting attracted the attention of several committees investigating possible collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government. Special counsel Robert Mueller is also conducting inquiry into the meeting.

Trump Jr. accepted the meeting after being emailed by an acquaintance offering to provide the Trump campaign with information about Clinton. The acquaintance, Rob Goldstone, said that a “Russian government attorney” would be providing the information as part of the Russian government’s efforts to support the Trump campaign.

Emails that Trump Jr. released in July infer that he enthusiastically accepted the offer. (RELATED: Here’s Don Jr.’s Latest Explanation For Why He Took That Russia Meeting)

President Donald Trump’s lawyer Jay Sekulow has since said that Trump Jr.’s actions were fully legal.
