A Pennsylvania man was sentenced Thursday after assuming the identity of a deceased infant who died back in 1972.

Jon Vincent, 42, from Lansdale, was sentenced to more than two years in prison Thursday for stealing the identity of an infant from Texas, Nathan Laskowski, who died in 1972, reported the Associated Press Friday. He pleaded guilty to Social Security fraud and aggravated identity theft in May.

Vincent posed as the infant after escaping from a halfway house in Texas back in 1996 when searching a cemetery for a person with a similar birth date. The deceased baby’s aunt discovered Laskowski’s fake identity from Ancestry.com, when finding a leaf from the family tree that linked him to her nephew.

Vincent successfully assumed the fake identity for many years prior to being outed. He even got married, divorced, and held drivers’ licenses under his fake name, according to prosecutors.

Prosecutors say he also lived in Mississippi and Tennessee under his assumed name, holding jobs, getting drivers’ licenses, and even getting married and divorced.

The escaped convict was originally arrested for inappropriate relations with a child.
