An escaped alligator took a stroll through the deserted streets of Melbourne, Fla. on Sunday, while Hurricane Irma raged through the town.
Fire department members were the first to spot the alligator, and they captured his neighborhood jaunt in a phone video, according to local news station UPI.
“Not sure the Mandatory evacuations apply to this guy,” a photojournalist from Florida tweeted Sunday.

The alligator was later seen running onto a grassy area, according to city spokeswoman Cheryl Mall, and has not been reported since.
Two manatees were also beached after Irma drained water from Sarasota Bay.
“One wasn’t moving, the other was breathing and had water in its eyes,” Michael Sechler, who first noticed the animals, said in a Facebook post. “My friends and I couldn’t move these massive animals ourselves, and we called every service we could think of, but no one answered.”
Several volunteers were later able to move the manatees about 100 yards closer to the water, according to ABC News.
