North Korea is threatening the destruction of the U.S. and its allies over the latest batch of United Nations sanctions.

The hearts of the North Korean people are filled with “surging anger and hatred toward the U.S. imperialists and their followers,” a spokesman for the Korea Asia-Pacific Peace Committee said Wednesday, according to the Korea Central News Agency.

“The army and people of the [Democratic People’s Republic of Korea] are unanimously demanding that the Yankees be beaten to death as a stick is fit for a rabid dog,” the committee spokesman said, adding, “Now is the time to annihilate the U.S. imperialist aggressors. Let’s reduce the U.S. mainland into ashes and darkness.”

The United Nations Security Council approved a new sanctions resolution punishing North Korea for its recent test of a possible thermonuclear weapon. While not as strong as the U.S. had hoped, the sanctions target the North’s oil imports, textile exports, and regime assets, strengthening past sanctions resolutions and further tightening the economic noose.

While the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations heralded the sanctions as the “strongest ever,” President Donald Trump warned that the latest sanctions are “nothing” compared to “ultimately what will have to happen,” suggesting that the U.S. has more in store for the hostile rogue regime.

North Korea’s peace committee threatened to sink Japan into the sea with a nuclear bomb, arguing, “Japan is no longer needed to exist near us.” South Korea was also included in the latest rant. “South Korean puppet forces are traitors and dogs of the U.S.,” the spokesman for the regional peace committee said, adding, “The group of pro-American traitors should be severely punished and wiped out with fire.”

While North Korea has long made aggressive statements like this, it is more alarming given their improved capabilities, specifically the development of an intercontinental ballistic missile that can reach the U.S. and a suspected thermonuclear warhead for that missile. North Korea has, or will soon have, the ability to level whole cities at great distances from its shores.

If the peace committee is expressing such belligerent thoughts, imagine what those dedicated to war must be thinking.
