Johnny Manziel could be on a professional football roster within a matter of days.

Manziel’s representatives have requested a contract from Canadian Football League team the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, who hold his negotiating rights. This sets off a chain of dominoes that will require the Tiger-Cats to sign him or release him to another team, according to TSN.

From TSN:

A league source said Wednesday night the former Heisman Trophy winner’s representatives have requested the Ticats present their client with a contract offer. Manziel is on Hamilton’s 45-man negotiation list, giving the franchise exclusive Canadian negotiating rights to the quarterback.

Any player on a negotiation list can request a team offer him a contract. The franchise then has 10 days to do so.

A CFL official said if an offer is made, the player has the right to accept or reject it. A rejection would result in the team continuing to retain the player’s neg list rights for a year from the date the offer was turned down.

It looks like Johnny Football is about to be back, and I couldn’t be more excited. Manziel has been out of professional football for over a year. It’s about time we got him back on the gridiron.

The man just has to go out there and remind the world why he’s one of the most exciting players to ever pickup a football. The world can’t wait much longer for the return of the Heisman winner. He torched it at Texas A&M and he flamed out of the NFL. This could be the ultimate comeback story for the Texas-native.

Now we will just have to sit and wait until we find out where he’s about to land, but I have no doubt it’s going to be incredibly entertaining.
