A former Brooklyn high school teacher was arrested Thursday for allegedly collecting reams of child pornography while still on probation for his first child porn conviction.

Craig Roffman, 41, a former James Madison High School English teacher, was originally arrested on child porn charges in 2005 after police caught him with illicit images, reported the New York Post Friday. After Roffman agreed to a plea deal and lost his teaching job, a state judge deemed the former teacher “not a threat” and sentenced him to only four months of weekends in jail.

“The psychologists, who are top-notch guys, found that he is not a threat to children and not a threat for recidivism,” said Joseph Grob, Roffman’s lawyer at the time.

Roffman was arrested Thursday by the FBI for allegedly starting to rebuild his collection of child pornography in March, while he was still serving the 10-year probation term from his first offense, reported the New York Daily News.

Many of the reported 3,000 sickening images involved “infants and numerous depictions of prepubescent children engaged in sexual activity with adults,” according to a Manhattan federal prosecutor.

Roffman is charged with one count of possession of child pornography and could face up to 20 years in jail. He was granted a $100,000 bond and ordered to live at his mother’s home with location monitoring. He is barred from accessing the internet while awaiting trial.
