Federal employees in the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) leaked a memo Tuesday detailing a one-hour training course for agency employees on the importance of preventing leaks.

Agency employees leaked to Politico a memo reminding employees that it is their responsibility to protect sensitive information. The memo also details aspects of a week-long anti-leaking training course.

“As federal government employees and federal contractors, we have a responsibility to properly protect this information from unauthorized disclosure,” wrote Donna J. Vizian, acting assistant administrator for EPA’s Office of Administration and Resources Management.

EPA dealt with leaked memos earlier this year that showed how much money President Donald Trump was considering cutting from the agency. Leaked memos have plagued the Trump administration throughout the president’s first eight months in office.

The National Association of Clean Air Energies obtained the memo in May laying out line-by-line where Trump will cut to fund $54 billion in defense spending. In total, Trump recommended at the time cutting EPA’s budget nearly $2.6 billion.

Trump administration insiders have leaked information to The New York Times and The Washington Post, among other outlets, about several issues the president has haggled with during his first term.

TheNYT, for instance, reported in May exact details of a meeting earlier this year between Trump and Russian officials. An American official inside the White House read to reporters aspects of the conversation, which included the president calling former FBI Director James Comey “a real nut job.”

There are other articles that range from details on the ongoing investigation into alleged Russian interference in the presidential election, to a WaPo piece in May about how awful White House aides say it is to work for Trump.

The agency has not responded to The Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comments about the memo on the leaked-training courses.
