President Donald Trump warned that “Rocket Man” Kim Jong Un is on a “suicide mission” in his first address to the United Nations.

“The scourge of our planet today is a small group of rogue regimes,” Trump said at the U.N. General Assembly. “No one has shown more contempt for other nations and for the well-being of their own people than the depraved regime in North Korea.” The president made it clear that if North Korea does not change course, the U.S. and its allies may be forced to destroy the regime.

“It is responsible for the starvation deaths of millions of North Koreans and for the imprisonment, torture, killing, and oppression of countless more,” the president explained. Trump cited the death of Otto Warmbier, an American citizen detained in North Korea for over a year, the assassination of Kim Jong Un’s half brother with banned chemical weapons, and the kidnapping of foreign citizens as examples of the regime’s brutality.

“North Korea’s reckless pursuit of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles threatens the entire world with unthinkable loss of human life,” Trump added. North Korea has launched numerous ballistic missiles this year and tested a suspected staged thermonuclear bomb which can be mounted on a ballistic missile, including North Korea’s intercontinental ballistic missile.

“It is an outrage that some countries would not only trade with such a regime but would arm, supply, and financially support a country that imperils the world with nuclear conflict,” he explained. China and Russia have been the primary supporters of the regime, but both countries have taken steps in recent months to pressure Pyongyang. Trump thanked them for their cooperation on recent UN sanctions resolutions but stressed that “we must do much more.”

“No nation on earth in seeing this band of criminals arm itself with nuclear weapons and missiles,” Trump told the general assembly, “The United States is a nation of great strength and patience, but if it is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea.”

“The United States is ready willing and able, but hopefully this will not be necessary,” Trump said.
