Donald Trump is a big ratings guy, and despite the fact that the Emmys served as a political rally against the president, he was “saddened” to see just how bad their ratings were on Sunday night.

“I was saddened to see how bad the ratings were on the Emmys last night–the worst ever,” Trump tweeted late Tuesday night. “Smartest people of them all are the ‘DEPLORABLES.'”

Although the president was a little slow to the ratings reaction, everyone was probably expecting Trump’s take on the record-low viewing of the biggest night in television.

Despite Trump’s assessment, which he likely received from multiple reports, an estimated 11.4 million people watched the Emmys on Sunday, slightly more than last year’s audience of 11.3 million which is the lowest ever.

The 69th annual Primetime Emmy Awards got political right from the start, with host Stephen Colbert getting straight to it in his opening number. Various Hollywood elites took turns using the stage as their platform to bash the president throughout the evening all the way until the end.
