Joe Scarborough: I Left GOP Because ‘I’m Tired Of A Stupid Republican Party’
Joe Scarborough attacked President Donald Trump and the “stupid Republican party” during his and his co-host Mika Brzezinski’s appearance on “The View” Thursday.
“I’m tired of the debate whether it’s a conservative Republican party or moderate Republican party,” Scarborough said when asked by the ladies why he left the GOP. “I’m just tired of a stupid Republican party. When you look at the fact that they’re pushing health care plans that have like 16, 17% approval rating. They’re trying to reorder 1/6 of the economy without having a single hearing, without knowing how much it cost.” (RELATED: ‘The View’ Slams ‘Unstable’ Trump For Threat To ‘Totally Destroy North Korea’)
“The type of conservative I am, which is a small government conservative that’s suspicious of a big government controlling our lives, to make that jump without knowing what you’re doing, that’s not conservative,” he added. “That’s radical. Unfortunately the party has not been about conservative values for a long time. The deficit doubles under Republicans. The national debt under Republicans. It ain’t great under Democrats either.”
Earlier in the segment, Mika talked about Melania Trump’s speech at the United Nations and called Trump a “bully.”
“Among other things, the guy [Trump] is a bully,” Brzezinski shared. “The guy is a bully up and down. Whether it’s verbal, whether it’s written, whether it’s tweeted he’s rude and he’s mean to people. And I think it’s strange that the first lady of the United States would make a speech on such a platform just completely not discussing the fact that her husband, the president of the United States, is a bully. It’s crazy.”
“Bullies understand force, bullies understand guidelines and guard rails,” Scarborough interjected. “This Republican party has never ever stood up to him [Trump]. They would be shocked if somebody finally did. But they [GOP] won’t do it because they are already running scared and that’s why he owns them.”
