Sean Spicer said Thursday that he is not going to issue a “blanket apology” for his time as the White House press secretary.

After Spicer appeared at the Emmy Awards to make a self-deprecating joke about his role as press secretary, many Americans began demanding that Spicer apologize for lying to the American people.

“So many Americans feel they deserve an apology from Sean Spicer,” ABC News’ Paula Faris said Thursday. “Are they ever going to get one?”

“I think that there are things that I did during my time there that I needed to go out and correct and I did that,” Spicer replied. “When there were mistakes that were made, where I got something wrong, I think I’ve owned that.”

“I think there are some people who, no matter what we do or say…they think that everything we did was wrong and want some blanket apology,” he asserted. “That’s not happening.”
