Comedian Jimmy Kimmel praised Republican Sen. John McCain as a “hero” Friday for saying he would vote no on the Graham-Cassidy health care bill.

Kimmel has been railing against GOP efforts to repeal and replace Obamacare since May. Most recently, he slammed the Graham-Cassidy bill and accused coauthor Sen. Bill Cassidy of “lying” to his face about whether or not he would make sure the plan covered pre-existing conditions.

“Thank you John McCain for being a hero again and again and now AGAIN,” Kimmel tweeted.

McCain revealed Friday afternoon that he would not support the Graham-Cassidy bill if it came to a vote, putting the GOP’s efforts to reform health care in jeopardy. (RELATED: McCain May Have Killed Republicans’ Last Chance To Repeal Obamacare)

“I cannot in good conscience vote for the Graham-Cassidy proposal. I believe we could do better working together, Republicans and Democrats, and have not yet really tried,” he said in a statement Friday.
