Police officers saved a man that attempted suicide Sunday at the Grand Central Terminal in New York City, only to find out that he is also wanted for murder in Delaware.

Law enforcement officers rushed Rondell Veal, 36, to Bellevue Hospital to undergo trachea surgery after he attempted to commit suicide by slashing his wrists and neck, the Washington Post reported. Veal was standing on the tracks of the southbound No. 6 line when he tried to take his own life.

Upon further investigation, police also discovered that Veal allegedly stabbed his girlfriend, Sherrie L. Campell, to death at their home in Newark, Del., where she was found with multiple stab wounds Friday.

Newark Police had issued an arrest warrant for Veal for first-degree murder and possession of a weapon while committing a felony, but he had already fled the city, according to the New York Daily News.
