UPDATE: A New York Daily News report found that Kushner’s 2011 voter registration card was marked as “male.” Wired relied on research from the left-wing American Bridge group and the public records database Nexis.

Presidential senior adviser Jared Kushner registered to vote in New York as a female, according to public records.

The president’s son-in-law checked the “female” box when registering to vote in New York in 2009, and prior to this listed his gender as “unknown” when voting in New Jersey, The Hill reported. Kushner also did not declare party affiliation while voting in New Jersey, according to The New York Post.

Kushner has already been heavily scrutinized for issues in properly filling out forms, specifically with regard to not labeling foreign contacts, despite being appointed to handle Middle Eastern foreign policy.

“Kushner can’t even fill out the most basic paperwork without screwing it up, so it’s a mystery why anyone thinks he’s somehow going to bring peace to the Middle East,” said Brad Bainum, a spokesman for Democratic opposition group American Bridge that first spotted the error. “Would anyone but the president’s son-in-law still have a West Wing job after repeated disclosure errors and a botched a security clearance form?”
