Meghan McCain has officially signed on to join ABC’s “The View” as a regular cohost just a few days after she departed Fox News.

According to a report by Variety, McCain is expected to join the show sometime in October and will be a co-host alongside current panel members Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Paula Faris, and Sunny Hostin.

Jedediah Bila, the only conservative cohost, left the show recently, paving the way for self-identified Republican McCain. The show has struggled to keep a strong conservative voice on the show since Elizabeth Hasselbeck left in 2013.

Despite the lack of intense fights between politically opposed hosts lately, “The View” has had its best ratings in three years, boasting an average of 2.8 million viewers a day.

During her four years at Fox, McCain was a contributor and a cohost on “Outnumbered,” a show premised on having an all-female cast with the exception of “one lucky guy.” Most guessed her departure was because of her father, Sen. John McCain’s, brain cancer diagnosis.  (RELATED: Meghan McCain Bids Adieu To Fox News)
