A toddler accidentally shot two other toddlers Wednesday at a daycare in Dearborn, Mich.

“These are heartbreaking investigations,” said Gary Mann, Dearborn Police lieutenant. “But they’re not that difficult because it’s not a whodunit,” he added.

The toddler was at a home daycare and wounded two three-year-old boys. One boy was shot in the shoulder and is expected to make a full recovery. The other boy –who was shot in the face — is in a stable condition at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan, reported the Detroit Free Press.

The toddler allegedly “accessed a handgun and the weapon discharged,” said Ronald Haddad, Dearborn police chief during the initial investigation, reported the Associated Press.

“There were about six to eight kids in the home at the time of the shooting, including some of the homeowner’s kids and children she cared for, police said,” the Detroit Free Press noted. Children’s Protective Services is also involved in the case.

Police expected to consult with prosecutors Thursday.
