House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Nevada GOP Rep. Mark Amodei are slated to travel with President Donald Trump to Las Vegas on Wednesday in the wake of the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.

The California Republican praised the president’s response to the tragedy in which 59 people were killed and more than 500 injured during the attack at a country music festival. McCarthy claimed Trump’s comments and his moment of silence brought the nation together.

“Mark and I will travel with the president tomorrow to Las Vegas,” he told reporters at the GOP leadership press conference Tuesday. “I know in these horrific crimes, these individuals, when they try to divide our nation, it’s really a time that we have to heal. It’s really a time to find what divides us to put aside.”

McCarthy, who lost three constituents in the attack at a country music festival, called for Americans to pull together to support those affected by the shooting.

“I know what these families are going to go through, and we need to be there for them,” he said. “We need to find that we are stronger, and we cannot allow this terror to win.”
