“Right now our focus, as we’ve said over the past couple of days, has been on healing and uniting the country,” Sanders said. “The investigation continues to be in the very early stages. We know that members of both parties and in multiple organizations are planning to take a look at bump stocks and related devices–we certainly welcome that and would like to be a part of that conversation.”

“We’re certainly open to that and we would like to be a part of that conversation moving forward,” she declared.

Stephen Paddock, who killed 58 people and injured close to 500 at a country music festival in Las Vegas, had dozens of semi-automatic weapons and several bump stocks stashed in his hotel room at Mandalay Bay. Bump stocks utilize the recoil of the gun to allow the user to fire the gun at a much faster rate than they could without the accessory.

The National Rifle Association released a statement on Thursday indicating that they are banning the use of bump stocks at their own gun ranges and support the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives reviewing the devices.
