President Donald Trump said Sunday afternoon that he asked Vice President Mike Pence to leave the Indianapolis Colts game “if any players kneeled, disrespecting our country.”

The vice president decided to leave the game after roughly 20 players from the San Francisco 49ers chose to kneel during the presentation of the national anthem. The protests mark the fifth straight week of players protesting the national anthem, which some players claim is part of a larger protest against President Donald Trump.

Pence spoke out on Twitter after he left with his wife, saying that he will not “dignify any event that disrespects our soldiers, our Flag, or our National Anthem.”

The president has suggested NFL fans stop watching the games until owners either fire or suspend players who choose to continue protesting. Some teams, like the Dallas Cowboys, have decided to kneel before the anthem and stand arm-in-arm during the presentation.
