“Saturday Night Live” creator Lorne Michaels explained away the shows decision to scrap a joke about Harvey Weinstein Saturday night as “a New York thing.”

According to the Daily Mail, during dress rehearsal the late-night comedy sketch show tried out a joke about the now fallen film producer after a New York Times report came out Thursday detailing decades-long allegations of sexual harassment against Weinstein. (RELATED: Michael Moore Teams Up With Harvey Weinstein For Anti-Trump Film)

Despite the fact that the joke reportedly got laughs, when it came to showtime a decision was made to throw it out. Michaels, who’s show has repeatedly attacked President Donald Trump who also hails from New York, said the reason was because, “It’s a New York thing,” after leaving an “SNL” after-party.

Saturday night’s show was hosted by “Wonder Woman” star Gal Gadot with a surprise appearance by country music singer Jason Aldean, who paid tribute to the victims of the Las Vegas massacre where more than 50 people were killed and hundreds of others were injured when a gunman opened fire on concert goers at the singer’s show last Sunday night. Aldean talked about the shooting and sang Tom Petty’s hit “I Won’t Back Down” in memory of the singer who died last Monday.

“When America is at its best,” the singer shared, “our bond and our spirit, it’s unbreakable.”

During the episode, they also dealt with the gun control debate and mocked O.J. Simpson’s release from prison.
