Campus police detained and questioned a college student that called himself Karl Marx after the student stabbed an inflatable ball, according to a Monday report.

Police apprehended the unnamed University of California, San Diego student after he repeatedly stabbed a free speech ball on which students were allowed to write anything they desired, Campus Reform reported.

The student first signed a free speech petition organized by UCSD’s Leadership Institute and Young Americans for Liberty student groups as “Karl Marx,” then proceeded to write “sic semper tyrannus” (“thus always to tyrants”) on the groups’ ball before stabbing it and leaving the scene.

While the student presumably used a fake name, he left an identifiable email address, which Young Americans for Liberty and the Leadership Institute used to trace him to a Marxist book store on campus.

WATCH:

“The owner of the ball decided not to press charges for vandalism and the student was never arrested,” a UCSD spokesperson told The College Fix. “The student has been referred to the Office of Student Conduct.”

The Daily Caller News Foundation reached out to UCSD for comment on whether the student would be named or receive any discipline, but received none in time for press.
