President Donald Trump, appearing on Fox News’ “Hannity” Wednesday, claimed that “Russia was an excuse” for the Democratic loss in 2016.

“We can’t let anyone play around with our voters and out voter system. But I have to tell you this–Russia was an excuse used by the Democrats after they lost the election,” the president said.

He added, “It wasn’t Russia. It was a bad candidate. It was a candidate who didn’t go to Wisconsin and Michigan like they should have. It was a candidate that spent tremendously more money than I did, as you know, more than double–and didn’t do well in Pennsylvania, this great state, didn’t do well in Florida, didn’t do well in North Carolina or South Carolina, I mean, lost Wisconsin for the first time in decades, lost Michigan.”

In reference to allegations that Trump colluded with Russia, he humorously said, “I did?”
