D.L. Hughey said the “three most hated black men in America” were Barack Obama, Colin Kaepernick, and O.J. Simpson during an interview Monday with TMZ.
The 54-year-old actor and comedian made the comment when asked about the former San Fransisco 49er reportedly filing a grievance with National Football League over him not having a job yet this season and the ongoing national protest debate. “If Kaepernick had gotten an opportunity to try out for a squad and not made it, then this whole thing wouldn’t have merit,” Hughley explained. “If he’s what they say he is…that’s he’s incapable of playing… how come they’ve never let him prove it on the field? And then nobody’s mad. You can’t make somebody give somebody a job. I understand that.”
“The three most hated black men in America are Barack Obama, Colin Kaepernick, and O.J. [Simpson],” he continued. “And two of them never were accused of murder.”
“They hate Colin Kaepernick right now more than they hate O.J.,” the comedian explained. “And you can’t tell me that if Jay Cutler got an opportunity…they’d take him out of the booth. If he got an opportunity…there’s no excuse for Colin Kaepernick at least not getting a chance to get on the field and to and see if he still had it.”
