North Korea watches American media closely, and apparently that TV lineup includes MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

“Be it no doubt that the senior officials here pay attention to what is being said in the U.S.,” NBC News correspondent Keir Simmons said. “One telling me that he watches Morning Joe every day, specifically for the segments about North Korea.”

Simmons’s broadcast from the North-South Korean border was aired Thursday on Morning Joe.

The show has recently focused on the escalating tensions between Washington and Pyongyang, including the war of words between the leaders of the two countries.

Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski sided with young North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un Thursday, sharing the North Korean assessment that President Donald Trump is “mentally ill.”

“They’re saying what a lot of people are thinking,” Brzezinski said. “The president is mentally ill.”

“He quite plainly said he believes President Trump is mentally ill,” Simmons said on the show, referring to the views of a North Korean lieutenant colonel. The view that Trump has some sort of mental disorder appears to be quite common in North Korea, largely due to the presence of regular propaganda calling the American president an “old lunatic” and “mentally deranged.” (RELATED: Kim Jong Un Vows To ‘Tame The Mentally-Deranged’ Trump ‘With Fire’)

“Mika, you’ve got a mind meld with some people in North Korea,” co-host Joe Scarborough responded.
