Authorities arrested a father in Pennsylvania who allegedly sold heroin from inside his girlfriend’s maternity ward after the birth of his child Thursday.

Police in Greensburg, Pa. found drug paraphernalia and heroin during a traffic stop Thursday, which the occupants of the vehicle said they bought from 25-year-old Cody Hulse at Excela Health Westmoreland hospital. Officers subsequently busted Hulse at the maternity ward of the hospital, where his girlfriend had given birth the same day, finding 34 stamped bags of heroin and multiple needles, reports Trib Live.

Hulse, who was arraigned on Friday, admitted to authorities that he sold heroin to people visiting him at the hospital following the birth.

“This affidavit says you had needles in there, you were selling drugs in there … all with a newborn baby in the room,” District Judge James Albert told Hulse at the arraignment Friday, according to Trib Live. “This is very disturbing.”

Police in Greensburg charged Hulse with possession of heroin, possession and delivery of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and endangering the welfare of children, reports The Associated Press.

His girlfriend denies any knowledge of his illicit activities at the hospital. Hulse asked the judge to consider his employment and status as a new father before setting the bond at the arraignment Friday.

“I have an issue myself with drugs,” Hulse told Judge Albert, according Trib Live. “I really didn’t want to bring it in.”

Hulse reportedly muttered in the courtroom, “this is ridiculous,” after the judge set his bond at $100,000 cash.
