Jane Doe, the illegal immigrant teenager whose legal battle for an abortion ended Wednesday, told VICE News she feels “good” about aborting her unborn baby.

“How are you feeling with the amount of time it’s taken to get here?” the VICE media reporter asked Doe.

“I feel good because I want to do it,” Doe responded. “When I first arrived at the shelter I decided to do it because I don’t feel capable of being a mature woman or being strong, or old enough, to be able to take care of it. And I don’t feel sure about having a child.”

“Yes it’s difficult. Because I’ve never been through this,” Doe responded when asked a question about whether it was hard being at the center of a nationwide debate.

The video’s release comes after a U.S. federal appeals court ruled in a 6-3 decision Tuesday that she could get an abortion, overturning its Friday decision to put a hold on the case until Oct. 31, according to Politico. The girl crossed the border illegally Sept. 7 and was roughly 15 weeks pregnant when she underwent the abortion procedure Wednesday.

Reactions to the government’s role in helping Doe undergo an abortion have been mixed. “Today’s loss of innocent human life is tragic,” Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said in a statement Wednesday. “The ruling that paved the way for the abortion violated long standing Supreme Court precedent on the rights of an unlawfully present person.” (RELATED: Emotions Are High After The Government Provided Abortion To Illegal Immigrant).

“The fight for #JusticeForJane isn’t over until every single Jane Doe has the ability to make decisions about her own body and life,” NARAL tweeted Wednesday.
