Today marks the 16-year anniversary of President George W. Bush’s famous pitch during the 2001 World Series.

Bush took the mound during game three between the New York Yankees and the Arizona Diamond Backs. It’s without a doubt one of the most famous moments in the history of the MLB.

America was dealing with the carnage and thousands of lives lost on 9/11. People were scared and nervous for whatever the future held. However, Bush sent a message to America on Oct. 30, 2001 when he fired heat over the plate.

To add to the legend, he did all of it while wearing a massive bullet proof vest. The Kevlar did nothing to stop him from firing it through the strike zone.

I don’t care what anybody thinks of Bush as a politician. That moment is one of the coolest in the history of sports. A nation at war, and our commander in chief shows up to the biggest game on the planet to throw out the first pitch.

Absolutely incredible.
