Lt. Bill Fly turned 100 years old Monday, and was gifted with his refurbished home thanks to the Luttrell family and other volunteers. Fly shed tears when he walked into the home he had shared with his late wife, and Fly’s daughter said it was the first time she had seen him cry.

“I was almost killed I don’t know how many times, and y’all kept coming to get me,” Marcus Luttrell said. “Just because I retired from the combat life doesn’t mean I can’t stand up and fight, and especially when we get hit like this.”

“I’m just pulling my weight–that’s what you do around here,” he continued. “You just kind of earn your place among our people.”

“They can’t realize how much it’s appreciated,” said Fly. “I just think of all these people who come in and helped like they did, donated money to do what they could.”
