Former McCain campaign strategist Steve Schmidt claims the president of China is now the “most powerful man in the world” following President Trump’s trip to Asia.

Watch:

“We saw no defense of American ideals, American values at any moment during this trip,” Schmidt stated. “We didn’t hear him talk about human rights, human dignity.”

“He seems not to understand the country that it’s the great honor to lead. He doesn’t understand the United States of America and our role in the world when you’re standing there in China,” Schmidt continued. “And I do think that the one thing that is clear coming out of this, the most powerful man in the world has been established, and it is President Xi of China.”

During his visit to Asia, President Trump has made stops in Hawaii, Japan, South Korea, China, Vietnam and the Philippines. His goals were to gather international support in denuclearizing North Korea, to secure an open Indo-Pacific region, and to alleviate economic tension with Asian trading partners.

The president visited Camp Humpreys in South Korea where he visited and ate lunch with American troops, met with the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in Vietnam, and attended the Association of Southeast Asian Nations’ (ASEAN) 50th anniversary dinner in the Philippines, while meeting heads of states and attending other events.
