Trenton Garmon, an attorney for Roy Moore, tried to use MSNBC host Ali Velshi’s “diverse background” to deflect questions about Roy Moore’s allegedly dating teen girls as a grown man Wednesday.

On “MSNBC Live With Velshi and Ruhle,” host Stephanie Ruhle asked, “Why would [Moore] need permission from any of these girls’ mothers if they weren’t underage?”
Garmon responded, “That’s a good question. And culturally speaking, I would say there’s differences. I looked up Ali’s background there and wow, that’s awesome that you have got such a diverse background, it’s really cool to read through that.”
“What does Ali’s background have to do with dating a 14-year-old?” Ruhle asked, later insisting “Ali’s from Canada!”
Velshi was born in Kenya and is a Muslim, though it’s unclear what that would have to do with Moore’s alleged behavior.
Garmon also used the interview to claim that Moore was a “salty guy,” who will not, “simply cower to political pressure.”
The attorney has been having quite a week in the media. Before this trainwreck interview he appeared on CNN to call host Don Lemon, “Don easy peasy lemon squeezy.” (RELATED: CNN Guest Calls Don Lemon ‘Don Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy’ [VIDEO])
