Unsurprisingly, tourists in China are being scammed big time ahead of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show due to take place in a few days.

TMZ reports that Chinese scammers are printing fake tickets – worth up to $35,000 – and selling them on “the Chinese equivalent of eBay.”

Fake admission ranges from $7,000 to $35,000, where tickets claim to get you front row seats and access to exclusives after parties. The tickets also claim that Taylor Swift and Harry Styles are performing, which is not true.

Officials affiliated with the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show are scrambling to get the counterfeit tickets offline but the fraudsters are pretty crafty, and the scam keeps popping up.

Now listen. I get that phishing scams and online theft is a big deal. It’s a serious situation and tons of people get affected by it every day. But this scam is in a league of its own.

What self-respecting person travels all the way to China in the hopes of attending the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show – but has no official plans to do so – then trusts Chinese eBay to get them there? That’s like trusting Jay Cutler get you to the Superbowl. Or Hillary to keep your emails safe. It’s just not gonna happen. You’re asking for a whole host of issues. Obviously you’re gonna get scammed.

China is also known for having incredibly relaxed laws protecting from fraud and stealing. Ever heard of their patent laws? They’re basically nonexistent.

Also, aren’t rich people supposed to be smart? If you’re gonna casually shell out 35 grand to maybe see some models and Taylor Swift, you better (1) make sure you see those things or (2) literally use dollar bills as toilet paper or (3) immediately be investigated by the FBI because there’s a solid chance you’re running a Ponzi scheme. In which case, don’t even get mad at these Chinese scammers because you’re right there running a racket next to them. They’re competition. Don’t hate the players, hate the game.
