The CFL has extended the Hamilton Tiger-Cats rights to quarterback Johnny Manziel.
The rights were set to expire at the end of November, which would have allowed the Texas A&M Heisman winner to sign with any team he wanted.
However, the CFL has stepped in and extended the deadline in order to satisfy guidelines set by the commissioner for Manziel to meet, according to TSN’s David Naylor.
According to CFL sources, Ticats rights to Johnny Manziel likely to be extended beyond Nov. 30th to allow him to complete league’s requirements. Priority is process over deadline. #CFL #Ticats

When/if Manziel satisfies CFL requirements to play in 2018, Ticats 10-day window to offer him a contract would begin at that time. #CFL #Ticats

Just another crazy twist in the Johnny Football saga. It’s good that at least he realizes the only way back to the NFL is through the CFL. I give him a lot of credit for that because there are plenty of guys who wouldn’t even give the CFL the time of day. They’d rather just have their careers die.
Now we just all have to wait and find out when he’s finally going to sign with a team.
