CBS News has fired morning cohost Charlie Rose over allegations that he sexually harassed women.
Eight women alleged to The Washington Post on Monday that they had been harassed by Rose. The women say Rose made sexual advances, appeared nude in front of them, or groped them.
In an internal memo, CBS News president David Rhodes wrote, “A short time ago we terminated Charlie Rose’s employment with CBS News, effective immediately. This followed the revelation yesterday of extremely disturbing and intolerable behavior said to have revolved around his PBS program.”
“Despite Charlie’s important journalistic contribution to our news division, there is absolutely nothing more important, in this or any organization, than ensuring a safe, professional, workplace,” he continued.

Rose was a cohost on CBS’ “This Morning” and the host of “Charlie Rose” on PBS. His program on PBS has been put on hold amid the allegations.
“This Morning” cohosts Gayle King and Norah O’Donnell responded to the allegations against Rose on the program Tuesday morning and promised that they would not give Rose a pass.
UPDATE (2:06 PM, November 21, 2017):
PBS has followed CBS’ lead and fired Charlie Rose.
“In light of yesterday’s revelations, PBS has terminated its relationship with Charlie Rose and cancelled distribution of his programs. PBS expects all the producers we work with to provide a workplace where people feel safe and are treated with dignity and respect,” PBS said in a statement.
